Initial Topic Idea (Research Blog #1)
For the project, I am thinking about exploring the topic of food insecurity among college students. While many recognize that the cost of college is high (and continuing to get higher), they may not consider how, due to the financial strain put on students and their families, the students may have other needs, such as food, that are left unfulfilled. Financial aid, loans, and jobs only go so far. For some, they do not cover enough. My research would likely include statistics related to the issue, the impact of food insecurity on college students’ education and health, what steps are being taken to help combat this issue, and what more can be done.
